I'm now just under a week before I move into my new Condo. I'm super excited!
Since this is the first time I've lived alone, I have to buy a lot of new things for the place, including a couch. So, I found a nice sleeper sofa at Value City Furniture for a nice price. With a Value City Furniture Credit Card, you also got 6 months interest free. So, I decided I'd go get that couch.
During the mortgage approval process, I found out that my credit score is 808 out of 850. My Realtor said I had the best credit of anyone she's ever worked with in 35 years. So, you could say I'm a good credit risk. But, apparently, my credit isn't worth much at this discount furniture store. They actually denied my credit application! The dork salesman told me he didn't know why I was declined and I'd find out next week by getting a letter in the mail. I told him that I probably have better credit than anyone in the store, including him. He had the nerve to tell me it's harder to get a furniture credit card than one at Best Buy or a mortgage because they can't repo a couch (which is totaly BS).
I told him I was completely insulted. His reply? How would you like to pay for the couch? Can you believe that?! I told him I would NEVER buy anything from them and went on to say I would spread the word about how lousey they are! So, there. Beware. If you're looking for new furniture, do NOT go to Value City Furniture!
